Réseau "Traduire les Voix Minoritaires" / "Translating Minority Voices" network Université Sorbonne Nouvelle & Université Toulouse Jean-Jaurès, France Website: https://tradminling.hypotheses.org/ Mailing-list: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdWlTYnAHNhg9OpJWlUsdzlW3DqcHz43Dtgw-02VqWf90mLUA/viewform This network aims to explore the translation of minority voices (dialects, queer/feminist voices, postcolonial contexts...) within and beyond the anglophone and francophone spheres. We plan to address a variety of issues, including the notions of norm, minority and majority, the ethical positioning of the translator, perceptions of authenticity, commercial constraints influencing the translation process, creativity, self-translation, re-translation and non-translation, the tension between oral and written, standardisation, and the construction of identity. In exploring these questions, we aim to move away from a monolingual and homogenizing vision of languages and translation.
